Job Title : Junior/Mid level Systems Engineer

Location : Beltsville

Required Clearance : TS w/Polygraph

Role and Responsibilities:

This position requires basic Linux knowledge and a desire to learn a proprietary health and status application that you will support.  You must have a deep ability to learn as much as possible on your own, ask questions and document what you have learned so that you can develop standard and repeatable standard operating procedures.  You must not be shy about asking the questions you need to complete your assignments as there is much knowledge that is vested in your team mates.  You must have a desire to get your assignments as close to right the first time, develop an understanding of systems operational processes and interfaces such that you can help debug and take corrective actions.  

Areas of responsibility include:

Perform software upgrades as needed for multiple locations.

Assist in the initial configuration of logical hardware and application components within the software for new or technology refreshed locations.

Troubleshoot various software issues by responding and logging trouble tickets from emails received from customers.

Work with software developers to address and identify software functionality issues as they arise.

Maintain and contribute to document repository containing various troubleshooting, installation procedures and FAQs as needed.

The ideal candidate will need to work well with a team and experience working with applications on installed on Linux server operating systems. Familiarity with Bash scripting concepts to automate repetitive task. Be self-motivated and able to work independently with little supervision; and possess strong and effective verbal and written communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience using Red Hat Linux to perform software related modifications

Experience utilizing VMWare vCenter

Experience utilizing MYSQL Database command line syntax for troubleshooting and updating database tables as needed.

General understanding of DNS, DHCP protocols

General understanding of Linux server provisioning on RedHat and VMWarehypervisors.

General understanding of various Data Center infrastructure hardware.
